Description
This one-day virtual symposium will cover all aspects of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) from its definition and diagnosis, through management and monitoring. It will also include discussion of how ARDS associated with Covid-19 differs from other forms of ARDS. The program will consist of short individual presentations by 30 leading experts in the field.
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be better able to:
- identify patients with ARDS and discuss possible phenotypes
- discuss the different types of respiratory support in patients with ARDS [nasal (high flow) oxygen, non-invasive ventilation, invasive mechanical ventilation) and select the most appropriate in individual patients
- understand how to optimize mechanical ventilator settings in patients with ARDS, including the obese and those with brain injury
- list and understand when to use different adjunctive therapies (corticosteroids, prone positioning, myorelaxants, sedatives, …)
All presentations will remain accessible to registered participants for one year
